pdf to paprika

FAQ

Formats, daily limits, what happens to the file, and what to try when a conversion is refused.

What does pdf to paprika do?

It turns a text-based recipe PDF into a .paprikarecipes file Paprika can import: a title, ingredients, and steps when those headings are present, with the original text kept in notes when a page will not split cleanly. Photos are not converted yet.

Which files can I upload?

A text-based PDF converts now. JPG and PNG are recognized, then refused with a photo-support message, and they do not use a daily conversion. The file has to match those formats by its contents, not only by its name.

What are the free limits?

Without an account: 1 conversion per day, files up to 5 MB, and 10 pages. A free account: 3 per day, 10 MB, and 30 pages. Pro is $4.99/month: 30 per day, 25 MB, and 100 pages.

What is a .paprikarecipes file?

It is Paprika's bundle format: a zip of individual .paprikarecipe files. Each recipe inside is compressed JSON. Paprika's Import command reads the bundle on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android.

How do I import the file into Paprika?

On a Mac, open Paprika and choose File → Import…, then pick the .paprikarecipes file. On iPhone or iPad, open the file from Files and choose Paprika, or use the share sheet. On Android, open the file and select Paprika.

Do you keep my recipe or train a model on it?

No. The PDF is read in the request that builds the download, then dropped. Nothing is written to storage, and files are not used to train models.

What if the PDF is a scan or a photo of a page?

JPG and PNG stop with a photo-support message and are not saved. A scanned PDF that has no selectable text still downloads, with a note that the text could not be read. Photo OCR is not available yet.

Why was my file rejected?

The usual reasons are the daily conversion count, a file over the size cap, a PDF over the page cap, or a PDF whose page count cannot be read (encrypted, or pages hidden in compressed object streams). The converter shows which limit applied. An empty result screen should not happen — if the page itself fails, use Try again.

Is there a paid plan?

Buy credits: $2.99 for 20 or $6.99 for 60. They do not expire. One credit converts one text PDF up to 25 MB and 100 pages. Pro is still available at $4.99/month for 30 a day. Photos are not converted.

Can I export recipes out of Paprika?

No. This tool only prepares a file Paprika can import. It does not read your Paprika library.
